Privacy Policy — Astro Vijaya AI

Astro Vijaya AI ("we", "our", "the app") is a Vedic astrology app. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

Information we collect

• Birth details you enter — name, date of birth, time of birth and birthplace (with its coordinates), used to calculate your charts and predictions. These profiles are stored on your device only; they are not saved to our servers as a profile. When you ask AstroChat a question, the birth details and calculated chart needed to answer it are sent to our server and to our AI provider (see "Data sharing"), but are not stored as a profile.
• AstroChat questions and answers — the questions you ask and the answers generated are saved in our cloud database, linked to an anonymous ID (below), so that the service can work and enforce your question limits. Please avoid putting information you do not want stored in a question.
• Anonymous ID — the app signs you in anonymously with Firebase. This creates a random ID; we do not ask for your name, email address or phone number to use the app. Your questions, remaining question credits and purchase records are tied to this ID.
• Place search — when you type a birthplace, the text you type is sent to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim geocoding service to find matching places and their coordinates.
• Voice input (optional) — if you tap the microphone in AstroChat, your speech is handled by your Android device's speech-recognition service (usually provided by Google), which may send the audio to Google. The app itself does not ask for microphone permission and does not store audio; we receive only the text it produces.
• Location (optional) — if you allow location permission, the app uses your device's approximate location to calculate Panchang (sunrise, sunset, Rahu Kalam and similar timings) for where you are. Your location is used on your device for this calculation and is not sent to our servers or shared with anyone by us. To show the name of your place, the app may use Android's built-in geocoder, a service provided by Google, which receives your coordinates for that lookup. The last position is kept on your device so the Home screen and your daily Panchang notification can use it. If you decline, or turn location off in Android settings or in the Panchang screen, the app uses your birthplace instead. Chart calculations always use the birthplace you enter.
• Usage data — counts such as how many AstroChat questions you have used, to enforce plan limits and prevent abuse.
• Purchase information — your subscription and purchase status, handled by Google Play Billing. We store purchase tokens, product, status and expiry date. We do not see or store your payment card details; Google processes all payments.
• Device and app verification — to protect our services from abuse, Firebase App Check and Google Play Integrity check that requests come from the genuine app installed from Google Play. This involves limited device and app attestation information handled by Google.
• Notifications (optional) — if you enable the daily Panchang notification, the app asks for notification permission and schedules it on your device. It also asks to be told when the phone restarts so it can re-schedule the reminder. No personal data is sent for this.
• Advertising identifiers — we show ads via Google AdMob, which uses your device's advertising ID and related signals to select and measure ads. Subscribing to Astro Plus or Astro Premium does not remove ads. If you purchase the one-time Remove Ads upgrade, ads are turned off for the period that purchase covers, and during that time this advertising data is not used.

How we use your information

• To generate your personalized birth chart, horoscope and Panchang
• To power the AstroChat AI assistant, which answers your astrology questions
• To display the app and its content in the language you choose
• To manage your subscription plan, purchased question packs and usage limits fairly
• To protect the service from abuse and fraud
• To send optional daily Panchang notifications, if you enable them

Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Your data is processed using the following third-party services, solely to operate the app:

• Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore database, Cloud Functions, App Check) — stores your anonymous ID, AstroChat history, credits and purchase records, and runs our server code
• Anthropic (Claude AI) — powers AstroChat. Your question, the birth details and calculated chart needed to answer it, and your recent conversation are sent to Anthropic's API to generate the answer, subject to Anthropic's privacy policy
• Sarvam AI and Google Cloud Translation — text shown in the app (for example horoscope descriptions) is sent to these services to translate it into your language. Translated text is cached on our servers so it does not have to be translated again
• OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) — receives the place names you type in order to find coordinates
• Google speech recognition — only if you use voice input, as described above
• Android geocoder (Google) — only if you allow location, to turn your coordinates into a place name shown on the Panchang screen
• Google Play Billing — processes all subscription and purchase payments; we never see your payment details
• Google AdMob — serves ads to users who have not purchased Remove Ads; subject to Google's privacy policy. Before any ad is shown, we ask for your consent where required (e.g. in the EEA/UK) via Google's User Messaging Platform.

Data retention and deletion

Birth profiles on your device stay there until you delete them in the app or uninstall the app. Information held on our servers (AstroChat history, usage counts, credits and purchase records) is kept while the service operates and is deleted when you ask us to. Purchase and subscription transaction records may be retained for a limited period where needed for legal, tax and fraud-prevention reasons.

Because the app has no accounts, we identify your server records by an anonymous ID rather than by your name. To ask for deletion, see how to delete your data or email us at the address below, and include your Google Play order number or the approximate dates you used AstroChat so we can find your records.

Children's privacy

Astro Vijaya AI is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit between the app and our servers. We use industry-standard security practices to protect your information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
